Are you wondering if success will ever happen to you? I think most of us have felt this way at some point in our lives.
I got lucky and did some things early on in my online marketing career that worked, even though I didn’t understand why.
You see, my main focus at the time was to create a comprehensive Square Dance website for the local dancers. I loved Square Dancing, and It was my way of giving back and supporting the local Square Dance community. It was a website at the time – blogs weren’t created yet – but it was a labor of love and I updated it quite often, sometimes daily.
Over the next two years the website grew and I started needing expensive (at that time) technology to do the things I wanted. One of the things I needed was database capability so I could provide a calendar.
So, I started a network marketing opportunity only for the purpose of providing financial support for my website. I started promoting my opportunity and products to my square dance friends and achieved success right away. Wow! What a surprise.
See, what I didn’t know was that because my website had grown into a high traffic site and valued by the search engines, when people went online and searched for things like “work from home” or “sell (My product)” my square dance website came up at the top of the search engines. This was exciting for me, but I really didn’t understand the concept in the beginning.
So later when I decided to replace my income with my home business, and I started setting up websites for my opportunity, I didn’t have the same success. I couldn’t understand why. People weren’t coming to my website, and I didn’t know how to bring them there.
After lots of experience and struggles… and learning opportunities, I came to learn that in order to be successful in my network marketing / mlm business, I needed to get back to the basics of what I learned with my square dance website:
1. The information needs to be updated frequently and kept fresh. Post to your blog every day. Promote your blog posts around the internet to increase your visibility. Take simple daily action steps and be sure you are consistent every day.
2. Focus on providing value through your blog posts. Share your story or provide training on how to accomplish something. My square dance website was popular because I provided information on where the dances would be for the upcoming week and who was Calling the dances. People were excited to receive my emails. Keep your advertising to a minimum – just work on providing value.
Be transparent and real. Be willing to share your story – the good as well as the bad. People want to know that you’re a real person, just like them. If you talk about your struggles and how you overcame them, people will relate to you.
Include videos. Videos are the quickest way to build rapport. People will feel like they know you and trust you, and you will attract others who are inspired by you.
3. It takes time. Trust the process. As long as you are doing the simple, daily action steps, you will attract more and more people to your blog, and with time you will achieve your goals. Give it at least 90 days – 90 solid days of consistency. Can you do that?
